I like Taylor Swift, although when I'm finished with this blog, you might not believe it. I actually find myself singing her songs to myself sometimes. But I think that's because they are played so often on the radio as I drive places. I especially like to listen to her hit, "You belong to me." It reminds me of Steve. I don't think it's unique, because all of her songs sound the same, flat, monotoned and simple. The one thing that she has captured is the whole "high school" experience. She has captured the way young girls feel about their, friends, parents and relationships. She puts it on paper and sing the same song with different words, over and over and over, again.
She can't sing and has a folk sound to her music. Not being able to open her mouth makes it hard for any high notes of runs, in the spirit of Beyonce. Who was so nice to share the stage with her after Kanye West's interruption of her speech at the MTV Music Awards. Beyonce should never share a stage with her otherwise, she simply not on her level of entertaining. I know I seem to like Beyonce a lot, but you gotta give her props. She has overcome a lot, and is still going strong. I use to want to hate her, because she was so pretty and knew it, but "Momma didn't raise no fool!" She is an American Icon, a symbol of what young women should strive towards. Talk about living the American Dream, and she does it so well. I think if her marriage ended (God forbid) her career took yet another hit, or any fool thing...She would bounce back like real women do! Women like her just survive, take it from me, one who knows. I use to play her song of the same name to pump myself up to make it through the afternoon. Not to mention the episodes of court, jail and prison. When I got home, I found my CD with every version of "Survivor" on it and listened to them all.
I think that's what Swift's appeal is to the Teens of America. She sings about the things that touch their lives daily. That song I like so much reminds me of Steve in high school. He had a crush on me, but I liked the most popular boys in school, but he was and will always be my perfect fit. Thus, "You belong with me...You belong with me!" Not to mention the hype that surrounded her during her assent to the top. Namely her relationship with Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers. He was one of the most popular young men in the country at the time. along with his two brothers. I think a lot of Swift's appeal has come from the hype her record company made about her. Plus, she is cute as a button, but nothing about her says...She is a star! I couldn't see anyone coming to see her and actually saying...I gotta sign this kid! Nope, I would believe that her manager sold his soul to the devil first. Then her career and mega popularity would begin to make sense to me.
Without all of his rudeness and grandstanding, I would have to stick with Kanye. This girl has no reason winning so many awards. But it's the make up of her audience, a bunch of little White girls whose Mommies and Daddies can afford to buy her records. They would much rather they listen to her than rap or someone who is half-naked or singing about "da hood". She gives the children of America back the fallacy of the American Dream. The fairy tales and circumstance of being a teenager, experiencing love for the first time, second time or last time...As in her latest song about the preacher's daughter. She showed young women what making choices can bring you. I think she is becoming the "Poster girl" for all the teenager who live in this country whose parents don't want them to grow-up too fast.
Her ability to reach them is fine, but she still can't sing. Neither could Brittany Spears, but they were trying to build her up to be the same way. Except, she disappointed them so badly, when they gave her a "Hollywood boyfriend" she had sex with him. Justin Timberlake, before he started using drugs so heavily, was another Teen Icon, but Brittany managed to make him fall in love, cheat on him and publicly humiliate him. You never know what will happen when you create this press junkies. America fails to realize that these people are people, too. They aren't as predictable as you would like to think. Swift, however is keeping it together. I would, too, who could be so untalented to be such a huge star. Sadly, if she doesn't meet some man who is controversial, treats her badly and keeps her in the spotlight, once she's an adult, 21 or 22 years old. When the bubblegum affects of her beauty has faded, she won't have anything. It's very possible she will head down the road of Mandy Moore, Hillary Duff and Jessica Simpson. Simpson only stays in the spotlight with what she wears or who she is dating. These women lack the luster of stardom that endures the test of time.
They don't have Janet's name, Beyonce's, Christina's or Pink's talent of dancing and singing. After their teens and early 20's end, it's over! Swift lacks not only talent, but fails to have a real presence. She doesn't really speak when she is talking, but unlike shy performers like Janet and B. when they get on stage, they come alive. Swift lacks the ability to come alive and give a performance worthy of all of her accolades. Kayne was so right, but he did it in the wrong forum. In perfect Kanye style; though. That's who he is inappropriate, and those who were upset with him should not be. How can you be upset at someone for being who they are, even if he's being childish, impolite, loud and mean. He could have ruined that girl, because she is just a girl who is already living in a fantasy that she is a superstar. He could have done serious damage, because up until then the people around her made her think she was the best. You know what damage you can do when force to face the truth when your delusional. After her performance last night at the Music Awards, I think she has fell deeper into her delusion. She was actually sitting at a piano, as if she was playing it. Wow, I guess she thinks she can do anything and and get standing ovation.
She and Rhianna, both untalented and delusional, who were victimized by Black men. Both of them strong and independent, taking back the power from the monsters in their past. Yeah right, there is nothing about Chris Brown or Kanye West that isn't true about many men. The thing is that they have to pick their battles and know when and where to make a stand. Brown isn't the first man to knock the hell out of his woman for being overly aggressive and not giving him room to think. I bet Rhianna will think twice about pushing another man to the edge, but I already talked about her delusions. Check the blog before this one. Swift was outted by Kayne, because of this one fact. She can't sing, she can't dance, she is no entertainer, because she has no talent. Like Brown, he has shown the world the truth, but did it in a very messed up way that has allowed these women more than their 15 minutes in the public's eye. They suck at being performers and can't touch the other women I have mentioned when it comes to putting on a show. I think X-tina might be pregnant again, but she'll be back! Talk about a "Blonde Bombshell" that's my, Girl! Can't nobody do it like that little bitty thing!
I would never feel that way about Taylor Swift and honestly wished she would go away. She's rich enough and if she invest wisely she will be rich forever!!! I miss real performers and I hate it when they go and get a real life and stop making keeping me entertained their soul purpose in life. I look forward to Clive Davis going out there finding me another Whitney, Babyface getting me a Toni Braxton or Tommy Matolla getting another Mariah. For now all I have it Tired Swift and Justin Beaver! LOL
